Q. What is Rubaroc rubber safety surfacing?
Rubaroc is rubberized safety surfacing, which is applied to indoor and outdoor wet-deck areas.
Q. What does Rubaroc consist of?
Rubaroc is small rubber granules mixed on site with a specially formulated resin, poured in place and trowelled to accommodate the surface substrate.
Q. Who uses Rubaroc safety surfacing?
Rubaroc is used on any surface that needs a permanent, non-slip, resilient surface. It creates a comfortable and aesthetically pleasing surface for any wet deck.
Q. How is it installed?
Certified, trained installers apply Rubaroc; usually two installers and one mixer on site depending on the size of the installation. The rubber granules arrive in bags and resin in buckets. It is mixed and trowelled on site to the specifications of the client.
Q. How soon can I walk on it?
Rubaroc systems are usable after a 24-48 hour drying period in most conditions.
Q. Is it slippery when wet?
Rubaroc is non-slip even when wet, similar to the theory behind a rubber bath mat.
Q. What colours does it come in?
Rubaroc has standard rubber surfacing colours for your convenience, however, custom mixes are also available
look under Services for colours.
Q. What sub-base does it cover?
Rubaroc can be installed on most solid substrates such as concrete, tarmac, wood, aluminum and steel. It can also be installed on compacted crushed stone for creating Rubaroc swimming pool decks.
Q. Can it be used for indoor and outdoor applications?
Rubaroc rubber safety surfacing is suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications.
Q. How will winter affect it?
Rubaroc systems have been proven to cope with the harsh environments, even the deserts of Arizona and the harsh winters of Canadian Prairies .
Q. Does Rubaroc get hot in the heat?
It is cooler than concrete and tarmac in the summer heat, since the pores trap moisture and create airflow that helps retain its low surface temperature. Due to the nature of rubber, it does not absorb heat or cold like cement or rock products do.
Q. Will it delaminate in the freeze/thaw cycle?
Rubaroc rubber safety surfacing systems have been designed and thoroughly tested to remain stable in all weather conditions.
Q. Will the colour fade?
Rubaroc rubber safety surfacing is UV stable and is highly used in Australia which is one of the harshest environments for ultra violet light.
Q. Is it tested?
Rubaroc has undergone many tests over the years including UV stability, critical fall heights, stain resistance and fungus & bacteria growth. Each test has passed with flying colours.
All Rubaroc rubber surfacing materials have ISO 9002 certification and have been tested by the NSF (National Sanitation Foundation).
Q. What happens to the water that drains through?
Water filters through to the sub-base, and the water will drain in whatever direction it is sloped.
Q. How do I clean it?
Rubber safety surfaces require regular cleaning. Pressure washing is the most commonly used procedure for cleaning rubber surfaces. Sometimes mild soap and water sprayed with the garden hose is all that is necessary. For stubborn stains The Meakings Group offers a product called RubaClean of which you can ask your distributor or installer for cleaning instructions.
Q. What happens if it needs repair?
Because Rubaroc is a rubber-based material, cutting out the damaged area and re-pouring the safety rubber and resin mixture will make repairs to your surface easy, un-noticeable and aesthetically pleasing. A certified rubber safety surface installer usually performs this function. Repairs are un-noticeable with Rubaroc and the new material blends in with the original surface.
